My name is Michael McGrath. Our business was established in 1956 by my Dad Gerald McGrath. My brother Christopher and I took over in June 1986. Our optometrist is Michael StJohn and I am the dispensing Optician. Our Manager is Jaqueline Ferns and her dispensing assistants are Diane Drummond and Anne Gallagher. All of our full time staff have been with us for a minimum of ten years. We help the Caledonian University by taking on trainee opticians and currently these are Michelle Macintosh and Peter Galloway. Christopher is our lab technician.
We are a family run firm but have a keen eye on what is a very competitive market. We have had a lab onsite since 1979 making us the first Optician to offer a same day service in Glasgow. We enjoy our work and strive to differentiate ourselves from our competitors with our stock, our staff and our friendly professional service. We are very aware that spectacles have to be functional and in most cases, fashionable, as well as offering value for money.
